Privacy and Personal Data

This page covers two things: what our website collects about you (almost nothing) and how the hotel processes your personal data as a guest. It is the privacy notice required by Türkiye’s Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, No. 6698), and it also serves as our GDPR notice for guests from the EU.

The Turkish version of this text is the binding one; this is a faithful translation. Türkçe

The website: no cookies

This site sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Nothing that identifies you is stored.

To improve the site we keep anonymous daily counters: which language, which page, how many sessions; only the domain of the referring site; only the month of the dates searched. No IP address is stored, no persistent identifier is assigned, no full referrer is recorded. Your language choice is kept on your own device and never sent to us.

There is no booking form on the site; you send your request by phone or WhatsApp. If you choose WhatsApp, your messages pass through Meta Platforms’ systems under Meta’s own privacy policy — that is a channel you choose.

Personal data the hotel processes, and how it is collected

  • Booking request: name, phone, e-mail if given, dates of stay, number of guests — by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail, from you.
  • Stay: identity details (name, surname, national ID or passport number, date of birth, nationality, gender) and check-in/check-out dates — at check-in, as required by Turkish Law No. 1774 on Identity Notification, from you.
  • Payment: payment method and amount. Card details are not stored by the hotel; payments go through the bank’s POS terminal.
  • Contact: the messages and requests you send us.

Why we process it

  • To provide the booking and the stay, and to communicate with you.
  • To meet legal obligations: identity notification, invoicing and financial records.
  • To keep the hotel and its guests safe.

Legal basis

Under Article 5(2) of the KVKK: processing expressly required by law (a), processing necessary for a contract (c), compliance with a legal obligation (ç), and our legitimate interests where these do not harm your fundamental rights (f). Under the GDPR the corresponding bases are Article 6(1)(b), (c) and (f). No separate consent is needed for these purposes.

Who receives your data

  • The Turkish National Police — via the Identity Notification System (KBS), a legal requirement.
  • Our accountant and the tax authority — for invoices and statutory books.
  • Banks — to process payments.
  • Beyond this, your data is not sold or shared for marketing. Apart from WhatsApp, there is no transfer abroad; your data is processed in Türkiye.

How long we keep it

Identity notification records, invoices and financial documents are kept for the periods the law requires (5 years under tax law, 10 years under commercial law). Booking requests that do not lead to a stay are deleted within a year at the latest. Data whose period has ended is deleted, destroyed or anonymised.

Your rights

  • To learn whether your personal data is processed and, if so, to request information.
  • To learn the purpose of processing and whether it is used accordingly.
  • To know the third parties to whom it is transferred, in Türkiye or abroad.
  • To request correction if it is incomplete or inaccurate.
  • To request erasure or destruction under the conditions set by law, and to have corrections and erasures notified to recipients.
  • To object to a result that is against you and produced solely by automated analysis.
  • To claim compensation for damage caused by unlawful processing.
  • If you are in the EU, the GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection apply as well.

How to make a request

Write to info@dolphinsotel.com or to the address above, with details that let us verify your identity. Requests are answered free of charge within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Board (KVKK) or, in the EU, to your local supervisory authority.
